John:

When the global server is open, click on the "performance" tab. In the
upper left quadrant, see the "quotes received". You can see the numbers
continually advancing when the server is receiving data normally. What I
do, is to move the server window so that the "quotes received" rectangle is
visible in the lower right corner of my screen. By having my TradeStation 5
workspace adjusted so the lower 1/2 cm of desktop is visible, you will then
be able to see the quotes received rectangle at all times. This had to be
done in my case, because the warning from ts5 that is given when signal is
lost is not visible when any windows are open on the desktop, so obviously
one does not see it as you are normally watching the charting when the
server is functioning. Some genius at Omega forgot we might want to see a
warning about losing the data signal. No one apparently thought that some
users have satellite data.

Anyway, I hope this is helpful.

I'm helping a friend install TS 2000i for the first time and I'm only
familiar with TS4. He has the Global Server working and wants to check for
data reception. In TS4 you need only to hit F3 and watch the data symbols
moving through the window. What's the TS 2000i version of this? I also
suggested he create a Quote Window in charting for the same purpose but
doing that isn't so obvious as in TS4.
Can someone point me(us) in the right directions?
