OT: PC weirdness

Anyone ever have this problem?:

Boot the pc, hd and fans start up, cd initializes, then nothing
else.....monitors stay dark, boot routine ceases, but fans and hd keep
running. 

Then hit reset button once, twice, maybe three times, and the reboot works
perfectly.  I get my desktop and everything is good.
