Netscape 6.0 is indeed awful. Netscape 6.1 is less buggy but still
crashes often. Netscape 4.76, 4.77 and 4.78 are excellent and very
reliable. The best browser based on the Netscape/Gekko codebase is
Mozilla 0.95 and better. I highly recommend Mozilla .95 if you want a
fully featured browser/mailer. Netscape 6.2 (which is based on the same
code as Mozilla .95) will likely be as good, but until then just say no to
Netscape 6.X.
I use Mozilla .95 on Linux and am quite happy.
