you really should try the ts2000i approach then..

database as a long term storage solution.

pretty good solution, but like many others they have their quirks..

> 1. There is no level of reasonable support for the product. I have a
dedicated computer that runs nothing other than the UMDS and I have had
repeated crashes that occur during the nightly update that Kent has been
notified about several times and has yet to suitably address. The crashes
have been documented and there has not been any real effort on their behalf
to fix this.

I am really surprised because I have run it for about two years (the
original free one) and had absolutely no crashes. It sounds like a hardware
problem? Have you replicated this on other PC's?

> 2. There is no capability to import data or edit bad ticks. This is a
major league problem.

AGREED! I have fixed this with TW..

> 3. Version 3 is a myth. Read the website - between the lines I read
something along the lines 'there is no future in this product. If some
equity partner happens to come along and dump a pile of money into the
project only then will it be completed.'

Actually I feel stronger about this than you do! I told him I didn't want
to discuss Ver3, just what he has available now Ver2.

> 4. The reality is that the market for this product has likely disappeared
and that the internet solutions will like take over.

Again AGREED! However there will be a need for a transition. That's why
the Research Pro version of TW is both Universal Server and Quote.com
capable.

> I hope that I am wrong about this product and it's future. However, after
a year of using it and dealing with the empty shell of a company behind it I
can not believe that it can be considered a viable solution.

It's a great product its faster than any data feed server I have ever seen.
Kents ability's are clearly above anyone in the data feed industry. I know
he is a small shop, we are a small shop. But I remember when Omega was a
small shop too. Kent has had no real powerful software other than Rudi's
great program to hook up to the Uniserver. WOW is using it and I would
imagine that they have sold many more units than Omega ever has, I've never
seen but your one complaint about the Uniserv honestly. I have no
connection with Kent other than I think he has the best product
available..though I don't agree with his business model.
