It is a confusing situation alright. Recently it was discovered that there
are two D8080's although one is still labeled D8000. I was one of the first
to switch from D8000 to what I thought was a D8080, but the manual for the
velocity receiver said D8000, yet the rcvr had the clothes on that said it
was a D8080 cuz it had the LCD in back instead of the analog meter and the
front LCD says VEL -SER. Then what got me suspicious is the Fibonacci
programmer I was working with to get his software to run on ethernet had the
old D8000 box. DTN tech support said the new box had to have the power
recycled so it would sample for a NIC or RS232. Yet the FT guy said he did
not have to cycle the power and could switch between rs232 and ethernet
simply by changing the port configuration in his software. So, just maybe
the old box has both ports active? Does anyone actually have a box labeled
D8080?
