Al,

Here's a simple way to identify direction:

my code:
If(Fml("*CCT T8 open")>Ref(Fml("*CCT T8 open"),-1),+1,-1)

The "*CCT T8 of open" is simply Tillson's T3 formula, set to eight days and the formula snaps the information on the opening (see attached chart).  Please insert your favorite moving average between the quotes.  Also, traders need to remember that if you are calculating directional shifts, using closing infomation, you can not identify information until the market closes.   Moving average, directional systems can "break-the-bank" in trending markets.  They can also drive you to the poor house in choppy affairs.

Take care,

Steve

Preston,

Instead of telling you about it and getting it wrong, I am sending you the link to download the ebook. You will find it to be a very simple system.

Thanks for your help
Al

Al,

We can help but can you tell us about the arrows and the indicator?

I would guess that what you saw was done in an expert attached to a chart. Trying to write something that would change colors as an indicator reguires a default which in the case of a SMA you would not have. Something like a red / green histogram is easy since you can default to a zero line.
