I wonder if it could also be done by copying only FormOrg.exe and the
old .dta file to a temp folder and doing the import there? Then, as
you suggest, export just the desired indicators to a new .dta file and
import that to the primary MetaStock installation.

I'll do a backup and give that a try.

Hi Code2

If I didn't already have several versions of MetaStock installed I'd
install a copy of my current version under a different directory,
import all old DAT files to that installation (indicators etc exported
from the old version), and then export just the wanted formulas to a
temp folder for importing to my primary MS installation. If the
duplicate installation is deleted at some point then you might find it
necessary to reinstall in the original location.

Anyone installing several versions of MS (only one copy of MS can be
run at any one time) should install the oldest version first and the
newest version last. I've never found it necessary to adjust registry
entries but I have found that deleting an installation or installing
an older version does cause current version problems that reinstalling
or installing in ascending version order overcomes. This practice is
probably not recommended by Equis but I tend to be more interested in
what actually works than what someone else tells me will or won't
work.

Regards

Roy

I backed up some of my old indicators several years ago with the
Formula Organizer Wizard in MetaStock. Unfortunately, now that I want
to retrieve some, the Formula Organizer Wizard wants to import all of
them and overwrite newer, existing indicators that have the same name.
Does anyone know how to list the indicators in a .dta file and
selectively restore or even just read one or two?
