I do not know where Pring et al believe rising wedges are short term. I
have plenty of examples over several years. There is a general
misconception that patterns should only exist for short periods. I have
found that they form over many years if necessary.
A typical example was the flat top broadening pattern and the normal
broadening pattern on the DJIA and S&P repsectively from 1966 to 1974.
