I use Mozilla 0.96. It's free. It isn't prone to Microsludge viruses.
It's lighter weight than Outlook (not lightweight... lighter weight).
And in its latest instantiation its pretty solid.
Why would you bother with Outlook? Kick the Microcrud habit!
