PMTo: realtraders@xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxSubject: RE: [RT] Is
Tradestation still top dog? There's no right answer to
your question - the perfect program does not exist.  Ipurchased TS2Ki a
while back, and I'm glad I did.  It is, for sure, an "imperfect"program
- poorly programmed in many respects, and poorly supported.  However, it
isalso "the standard".  There is more information, sample systems, free
code, books, etc. in EasyLanguage than anything else I've seen.  Also,
the backtesting and systemperformance reporting capabilities are
extensive.  For someone who is in thelearning process, as I am, it's a
good way to go.Note - do NOT buy TS2Ki from Omega!  There is almost
always a copy available on EBayor elsewhere for a fraction of the price -
make sure you get a permanent passwordwith it.  I don't think you can
get support from Omega with this arrangement, butyou get better support here
or on the Omega list anyway.  TSPro is where they'reputting all their
attention these days - if you're interested in more than stocksit's not an
option at this point, and I agree with you that I wouldn't want to belocked
in to their datafeed. For someone who is primarily interested in
discretionary trading, or knows exactlywhat system they want to use, Ensign
looks like an attractive alternative.  Veryhighly programmable, but the
system testing is primitive compared to Tradestation.Ensign's performance,
reliability and support are far superior, from everything I'veheard and my
brief review of the program.  I'm holding open the possibility
that, once I've determined the system I want to trade, I'll end up
programming it inEnsign for day-to-day use.The main shortcoming of
TS2Ki for system building is the extreme difficulty ofevaluating a system
over multiple markets.  Trading Recipes is supposed to be goodat this,
and Rina offers a Tradestation add-on for portfolio testing - I haven'tused
either.> -----Original Message-----> From: John Nelson
