Don,

The ionizers on the market today take care of that risk.
The government/FDA are on top of it, and would not permit the sales
otherwise.
Ionizers are widely used (may even be mandatory) in Europe and other parts
of the world.
There are some US government research on the benefits, they are being used
in Navy, AirForce, etc.
You just have to read some more sources :-)
