Gentlemen:

I realize this is off-topic but it's been discussed before & I need help.

There has been a lot of opinion expressed re how to tweak the Pagefile in your OS (mine's XP Pro). Back when I ran TS2ki under Win2k Pro it was common to switch off letting Windoze auto-adjust your PF's size and instead create a fixed size based on your particular parameters.

I did that with some success and repeated it again when I bought my next box with XP Pro.

However, over the last few months I've experienced several BSD (blue screen of death) occurrences and noticed a severe slowdown in my PC. E.g. when I come to the desktop after a cold boot my desktop icons take seemingly forever to render. The background task icons load quite slowly, etc.

Also, I've noticed slowdowns of apps behaviors; e.g., switching charts. This resembles memory leak issues but I memtested my RAM and it's OK. These slowdowns aren't just with TS but occur in other apps as the day wears on. I'm aware MS is notorious about its memory leakage issues but this degradation is worse than that.

So, after all that background, I've totally cleaned my registry (used RegCure) and eliminated 1168(!) issues. Some improvement. However, the slowdowns eventually occur.

I went to check for my Pagefile's setting and couldn't locate it under the root c: drive. Maybe it's been a long time and I've just forgotten, but I need to find out if my PF is being auto-sized by XP or if it was somehow deleted. If deleted I would think that would have a LOT to do with the problems I've described.

Is there a way to restore my PF and what setting do you recommend? Do you think this is going to clear up the issues I've described or am I missing the boat?

Sorry to take up so much space & time on the list but I'm unable to safely trade until this is resolved. I'm just praying I don't have to do a total re-install to fix things. I may have to kill myself if that's the case. :-(

Thanx in advance for any help you can offer.

Regards,

Michael Guess
