1 tool i've found useful for large file transfer is www.yousendit.com
i'm sure there's many other similar services. this 1 is free, and can handle
up to 1gb transfers.
hence, you could hypothetically send yourself this file, do your format,
then download your backup file.
the file is saved for only a limited amount of time on their server. i can't
remember the exact time frame.
i suppose the more secure method would be to burn it to a cd/ dvd.
