Excel ODBC power users

Hi all

i dunno if this is common knowledge for people out there , but i was adding
new database drivers this morning and i noticed when i installed omega
prosuite eons ago it also includes ODBC drivers. [for newbys these are
basically access ports for importing exporting data]
So i did this.
Opened excel
goto 'data, get external data, new database query'
[a choose datasource window pops]
goto 'omegaeresearch alerts database'
[query window pops]
highlight 'OpenPositions'
click on > button
click on next
click on next
click on next
click on finish
[returning data window pops]
click on ok

Then what appears in excel should be exactly whats in 'Omegas tracking
centre Open Positions'

After a quick look around , it looks like you can access all info in
"Tracking Centre",Workspace assistant",Message log" databases

So what could you use it for ... i dunno ... maybe if you want to report on
these in excel? or graph something?
Maybe you could send messages to messagelog like ummmm your equity total and
then use excel to graph it and do linear regression stats etc.
Or maybe you could write a perl/vbscript that adds extra ones from another
install of prosuite on a differnet machine? or use perl/vbscript to email
orders to a broker maybe?

This could be useless info for you , or incredibly usefull , or a complete
waste of your time.

Your milage may vary

Cheers
Cameron
