The problem has to do with the video card.  As a first step, go to video
properties then troubleshooting and move the slide bar to turn off all video
acceleration.  This should fix the problem.  However if your card is like
mine, it will be quite slow, so you go to step 2: go to ebay and buy a cheap
older video card.  The one I picked was a Creative Labs Graphics Blaster
Extreme -- cost about $20.  Step 3, if you so choose, is to then sell your
newer, nicer video card for more than the old one you bought.  In some
circles, this is known as VCA -- video card arbitrage.

The same problem causes big problems with many drawing tools on TS2k and
also on TS4.
