Headline: Omega (NASDAQ:OMGA) sees net income lower than expected

======================================================================
MIAMI, Jan 6 (Reuters) - Omega Research Inc, which provides
investment software for the Windows system, said Tuesday fourth
quarter net income and revenues would fall short of estimates
because of lower-than-expected demand.
Omega said in a press release it expects its fourth quarter
earnings per share of $0.02-$0.04. The company did not put a
number on revenue and net income figures.
The First Call consensus estimate for the company's fourth
quarter was $0.07 per share.
The company added that the slower demand was due in part to
customer delays in decision making. Customers delayed because
they were expecting new new product releases during the first
half of 1998. The company also lost sales because of December's
curtailed business days.
Ralph Cruz, Omega's co-chairman and co-CEO, said, "Even if
current demand patterns continue to impact us during the first
quarter of 1998, we expect that the major upgrade releases
scheduled for the second quarter will continue to expand our
revenues, income and overall growth rate."
Cruz added, the company is "optimistic about 1998."
