The direct cable is a nice idea, but it can be a little slow.  ALso, the parallel 
connection is questionable.  I can get the serial link to work (which is VERRRY 
slow), but not the parallel.  I scoured the 'net for info and learned that some 
versions of Win95 seem to have different drivers.   Also, the mapping you get is 
clumsy - a new window for each folder.   Ethernet is perfect - each drive on a 
remote computer appears as a drive on the local.  All operations are transparent.  
And you can set access priorities.  I always make shared directories read-only.  
This prevents writing over data if you get confused as to which drive is the remote 
:-)

The direct parallel cable seems to be what I had in mind.
I tried it using a standard parallel cable I had laying around.
The cable works when hooked to the printer, but the two computers
won't connect through it. Is there a "special" cable that must
be used here?
