I wonder if someone can possibly help me. I know there are plenty of programs about which will convert a text file to Metastock EOD format but does anybody know, the algorithm for converting to the EOD format?

The Downloader will convert text files to MetaStock EOD. (Look under Tools.) If you are looking for tha algorithm to read MS files, they used to publish the BASIC code for reading MS in their early manuals but don't think they really wanted you to do that. However, I think that if you do a Google search you can still find that code.
