RE: Advanced Get versus MetaStock

Henry,

Advanced Get also has other tools besides Elliot Wave analysis that
some traders may find valuable. This includes seasonality charting
that helps you recognize deviations from normal trading patterns.
There is also some Gann support if I recall correctly; I am not an
owner of the product but did use the predecessor product StockMaster
that was discontinued years ago.

Now Elliot Wave analysis is somewhat subjective and argumentative.
A lot of emphasis is placed on Fibonacci retracements which in fact
do work often enough to make them credible. The problem is Fibonacci
retracements pretty much scan the entire retracement range and then you
have the issue of which wave is being retraced. Usually, after the fact,
you can develop a fibonacci relationship of some sort to fit the data.

So is all lost with using Elliot Wave? I think not. The most profitable
waves are the
wave 3 and wave 5 constructs in most cases. Corrective waves are the
most difficult to label and analyze and tend to be the least profitable.
Advanced Get has filtering capabilities based upon the primary wave
count; this means you can use AGet to filter securities for those
in wave 3 or wave 5 to use with trend following systems. The
MOB (make-or-break) line can also help in determining the end of wave 4
which is tantamount to trading wave 5 which can be very profitable.

Also, AGet is more tailored to the futures trader over the stock
trader from a historical perspective. I do not use real-time Metastock
so I can not give you a relative comparison of features; in general,
Metastock will be more generic in purpose and Advanced Get will have
specialized features mainly focused around Elliot Wave types of analysis.
AGet also does a pretty good job of charting as well from what I have seen.

Thanks,

Ron
