No one in this discussion has mentioned the factor of "intervening systems".
That is, the systems that receive the S&P feed, process the quote data, and
then re-transmit it over satellite, internet, cable, FM, or whatever. A
system is only as strong as it's weakest link and the S&P collector is a
part of that chain.
As someone else said, you can't evaluate a quote provider's latency solely
based on their transmission medium.
