Re: TS4 Computer Upgrade

Dear Ron,

I went from (TS4 + BMI satellite) to (TS4 + Quote.com + Dynastore for
Quote.com) to (TS4 + eSignal + Dynastore for eSignal) and am now on
(TS2Ki + eSignal + Dynaloader for eSignal). During this process, I
switched from a P233 to a P3/500 and later to a Celeron/1.33.

The P233 worked just fine for TS4 + eSignal (I sold it before switching
to TS2Ki, so I don't have experience on that combination).

I switched to TS2Ki only last month (after upgrading to the Celeron) and
would recommend it.

I know Win98 has gotten a bad reputation for TS, but it has worked
flawlessly for me for years with TS4, and in the past month that I've
been using TS2Ki, I haven't had any problems with it there either. I
have a copy of Win XP, waiting for problems to develop with Win98 +
TS2Ki
before making the transition to XP, but so far, no problems, so I
haven't switched.

If I had to recommend anything, it would be to dedicate a computer to TS
and NOTHING else, and to use a separate computer for all your other
computer needs, eg, Internet, Word, photo, etc. I'd also play down the
need to spend gobs on a new high-falootin' computer, and use what
remains to get a copy of TS2Ki (maybe $200 at most via eBay or others).
I have around $400 in my Celeron, which includes 512MB of Crucial RAM,
256 MB of which is probably overkill.

Sincerely,

Richard
