Gunning stops electronically

When you place a stop order in an electronic market such as the S&P 
emini, can they be gunned?

I invariably find that when using mental stops, by the time I hit the 
Buy/Sell button I've lost at least 0.25pt. Yet when I place stops, the 
market manages to move just that extra 0.25pt in order to hit it (:-).
