T4.0 ASCII Data Import 'Issues'

Help.  I have managed to 'add a directory' of ASCII
data.  Now I need to add another, and when I jump
through the right hoops, and press the "OK" button (or
whatever it says), I get that little bell and window 
sort of shimmers at me and nothing else whatsoever 
happens. No directory, no confirmation, no error
message, just a little dinging and a little
shimmering.  

Can anyone helP?
