Always on the lookout for new markets to trade that trend nicely, I recently
traded the monthly natural gas contract at the International Petroleum
Exchange in London.
Xpresstrade will not accept orders for this contract, so I placed the order
with my NZ broker, an introducing broker for ABN. After five days, they
made me get out of the position, citing fears that the market is only
suitable for gas producers and consumers, not speculators.
I took this up with the IPE, who were kind enough to reply in detail. They
insist that there is no reason why I should not trade the contract, and say
they welcome my business, but acknowledge that they are unaware of any
speculative participation in the contract.
Does anyone else have experience with this contract, or thoughts on the
wisdom of speculators trading it? Does anyone know of brokers who accept
trades in it?
