Rajiv,

Preston is correct; using multiple indicators haphazardly is a recipe for disaster.  I imagine if you do get a buy or sell signal out of what you're trying to do, the underlying security is probably so over-bought or over-sold that it is just as likely to reverse.

Many multiple-indicator systems use one or two indicators to establish whether a security is trending or cycling (going sideways).  Moving averages, ADX, Linear Regression slope, ROC are some of the indicators which can determine whether a security is trending or not.  If it's trending, then a breakout type indicator (e.g., C > ref(HHV(H, 8), -1) is usually effective.  If it's cycling then a counter indicator such as RSI is usually more effective.

Pete

Rajiv,

I'm not fond of the smorgasbord approach.

I think you will get far better results if you focus on just a few indicators and try to understand what those few are telling you about the market.

Your list includes some very good indicators and some that I really would not put my trust in. If there is a zigzag or a dpo then you are not getting true signals.

There are also quite a number of different gurus in your list. I would be fearful that you would be opening yourself up to a conflict of signals.

Study the works of the individual gurus seperately and try to realize how those systems work. Then settle on an approach that you are comfortable with.

Hope this helps,

Preston
