[EquisMetaStock Group] Migrating MS questions

I have a couple of interesting issues that came up when I migrated MS
onto a new computer.

I moved V 9 from Win 2K to WinXP Pro installed on a completely
different computer. Everything works fine except for two small problems.

In the Open with Template window, by default it comes up in the
details screen. I click on the windows menu and chose List which
reconfigures the the window. However, in Win 2K the list stayed that
way and everytime I opened the Open with Template window it was set to
show the templates in the List format. In WinXP Pro it won't save the
setting. It resets itself back to the details format everytime I
reopen it.

I checked the registry to see if there was a key I had to reset and I
can't find one. All the other windows that open will allow the reset
from details to list and they keep the setting.

This is an odd problem. I've reset the files view on the folder
several different ways. It doesn't matter what view is set in the
explorer it doesn't change what appears in the MS window.

I thought I knew the contents of all the MS registry files, but maybe
I'm missing one somewhere that has the key instructions in it.

The other problem is the downloader Select Securities window has the
correct current list that I was using before I moved MS open in it
under the folders tab, but when I click on the lists button below, my
previous lists have all disappeared. I've brought the correct EQ List
file over and I've brought the correct ComList but it won't recognize
either of them.

I thought maybe listmaster had a path name in it that was messed up,
but that wasn't the case.

If the lists are created using the favorites or an exploration they
move with the EQ list. If they're made from the folders in the
Metastock Data file, they don't move with the EQ List. Another
interesting anomaly. All of this is caused by the patch work of code
that MS has gone through.

If anyone has a clue about what's up with these two problems, let me
know.

I put MS on a Dell XPS 700 with a Core 2 Duo E6300 processor and some
other speedy stuff like dual graphics cards which I use to control
multiple monitors. Amazing difference in speed. I ran two XPS 700
machines, one with a Pentium D 930 3.0 GHZ chip (hot as hell) and this
one. The Core 2 is a lot cooler about 40 degrees C when I'm pushing it
hard vs the 65 to 80 degrees C on the Pentium D. The E6300 is only a
1.86 GHZ but the way it processes and uses it's cache it actually
edges out the Pentium in speed with out the power grab. The E series
are 65 watt spec chips while the D chips are 95 watt.

Right now the XPS can flip charts so fast (no matter what indicators
and experts are on them) it out runs MS's ability to keep up and it
locks out MSwin. I have to flip through them slower than the computer
is able to handle to keep MSwin working right. How sweet that is! My
other machine didn't create that particular problem.

One hint for those that use esignal. When you download esignal you
should alwasy keep the install files for the older versions. Sometimes
when esignal creates an update, it can generate errors in MS and you
won't be able to fix the problem any other way than to install and
older verions of esignal without the errors. Upgrading to new verions
of esignal buys you very little. Equis wants you to drop esignal and
use the Quote center to keep the revenue stream coming in so don't
expect them to complain to esignal about coding errors.
