I just noted that in the DeBry Spyglass package there are median price and
median volume functions. The median price isn't mentioned in the manual, but
appears in the indicator list - DeBry ET Median Price.

Hmmm... I misunderstood the problem.
My answer is valid to any historical search for x% of bars inside/ outside
of an envelope or band, such as with Dr Elder's AutoEnvelope - Std Dev only
produces an approximation, and doesn't work with volatile data.
Yes, a median function would be very handy in MetaStock.
