Allan:

Exactly right about AmiBroker.  IMO, beats MS
right now with respect to programming ability (functions, script, etc.).
Even the RT ability will I believe be ahead of MS.  When I asked MS to
consider including QuoteTracker the response within the blink of an eye was no,
but here comes AB and it will handle that relatively simple chore and probably
other RT/delayed sites.  Charting, as you note, is the hangup at this time,
and is the reason I have not switched since much of my work is charting oriented
vs systems.  Popping for another MS update is going to take some smooth
talking.

“Bob” answered the call. I asked what he had found. He didn’t even remember
talking to me. After I refreshed his memory he said he said he had gotten busy
the day before and hadn’t had time to do the testing but would definitely do
some testing and get back to me….that was about 3 weeks ago. I definitely have
a problem with attitudes like that. I paid for the call, and waited in the
queue for service. When a tech answers my call, it’s my time. If there is
testing or quick research that needs done, then do it while I’m on the phone,
especially if I’m willing to sit there while paying for the call. In “Bob’s”

substandard support. I have been closely following the progress of a competing
product called Amibroker. The author is very responsive to suggestions and has
a published release schedule laid out through he first quarter of next year.
So far he has met or exceeded all of his deadlines. At the end of this year,
he is going to release a Real Time version and in March/April of 2002 he is
going to rewrite the charting engine. The charting engine is the only real
weakness, other than no real time version, that I can see in the product. Once
that happens, he should have a product that we all wish Metastock was (or
  could have been).
