Intrinsically there is nothing to stop the DJIA or any other index from
going to zero. It probably wont happen. A drop of anther 500 or 1000
points is always possible in a panic situation. Part of the problem is the
rapid dissemination of information. While crashes and panics certainly
occurred before the days of modern technology, they took a bit longer to
develop, so that a prudent person had a more time to make a decision and
act on it.
Anyway, I'm holding my breath to see what happens later today and the next
few days.
