"Long" OLE connection e.g. from MS to Excel: How?

I tried to set-up an OLE connection between a e.g. price in a MS chart
and Excel, and I want the connected field in Excel to be longer (e.g.
up to the end of 1998) than the data available in MS (e.g. up to
09/24/97). - How can I do this?

If I set-up the connection using copy&paste(special), the connection
ends with the end of the data available in MS ...B-((...

Any hint?
