Thank you, nchrisc and david jennings.........I have received FutureSource data in both California and in Washington...they currently seem to be trying to collect for the state of Washington...I didn't know they had an office here.  I appreciate the help.

The issue before had to do with TX residents.  FS had been operating 
an office in Houston for years and had not been charging tax to Tx 
customers.  The state informed them of the error in their ways and 
assessed them for back taxes. In turn they sent all of us a bill.  I 
had just move here at the time and so my bill was just for a couple 
of months so I paid it.  Not positive who is legally responsible per 
the fs contract, though generally state laws provide that the buyer 
is responsible for sale/service taxes whether the vendor collects or 
not.  But I don't think any actually attempt to collect.
