I was in England during the coal strikes in 1971 and they had to shut down
the power grids for some hours each day. Now I will admit that was a while
ago, and the English may be more level headed than some but they didn't go
crackers, bananas, or nuts. People just made an adjustment in their habits
to accommodate it. If various problems arise after Y2K I hope that people
everywhere will do likewise.
