NW: All I can tell you is that Gann's estate was probated in Dade
County, Florida (Miami) in 1955? at $150,000. That would be equivalent
to about
$5,000,000 today. I think the $50 mil number was a "promotional" number
that did not count some of his misfortunes such as the couple of time he
lost his trading capital because the firm he traded thru went broke.
This is not to take away from Gann as a technical genius of the markets.
It does bring into question the "legend" of W.D. Gann. I wrote an
article on this very topic back, "What You Need To Know About W.D.
Gann" in the early 80s which was published in Traders's World Magazine.
It was also published early in 1997 in Dave Green's Traders Club?
publication (don't remember the name of it). I think it may have been
the March issue. I discussed and showed proof of Gann's use of
Astrology. I also discussed Gann the Man vs. Gann the Legend.
Yes, John Gann was probably not a very good source as he was bitter
toward his father since their business separation in the late 40s or
early 50s.
