Below are the results of our weekly "Guess the Dow" sentiment survey.
The survey was taken from 8/18 thru 8/24 on our web site. If you would

30 day outlook:

53% bullish, 41% last week
27% bearish, 32% last week
20% neutral, 28% last week

(percentages may not sum to 100 due to rounding)

Average guess for the DJIA closing value on Friday, 8/22: 7895 (it
was 7827 last week). More complete sentiment data is available at
<http://www.lowrisk.com/sentiment.htm> .

This week's numbers took a rather strong turn towards the bulls this
week. Last week's volatility didn't seem to spook investors too badly,
and a lot more made up their mind about where they think the market is
going; neutral sentiment dropped from 28% to 20%. The bulls picked up
12% to 53%, while the bears dropped 5% to 27%. We are rather surprised
that bullish sentiment grew this strongly. The stock market did have 3
days of impressive gains, but it also had some dramatic selloffs.

We now have three sponsors for our contest this week. Weekly winners
will now receive a two month subscription to the Early Bird Club at
the Short Term Stock Selector AND a one year subscription to The Blue
Star List AND a one year subscription to Jack's Picks.
