I just installed TS 2000i on Windows 7 Professional on a Dell Inspiron
1501 laptop, and thought some on the list might be interested in how
it went.

The Windows install was surprisingly easy and fast, far superior to
previous editions of Windows. However, there were problems with XP
Mode, the feature that runs XP as a virtual operating system for older
apps. It began throwing of error messages during Windows Update (you
need to run XP updates for the virtual OS as well as for Windows 7
itself). When I attempted to install TradeStation, toward the end I
got repeated error messages about unreadable files, and then the
install failed.

I gave up on running TS in XP mode, and installed it in Windows 7
proper. Then I right-clicked all the .exe files in the program folder
and enabled XP SP3 compatibility mode for each. That did the trick.
Everything is running great.

Perhaps my two and a half year old hardware had problems with the
virtual OS, though I do have 2 GB of RAM and a dual 1.8 MHZ processor.

I'm still running TS flawlessly on XP Home edition on my main desktop
trading computer.
