Programs like Zonealarm will slow a machine down.  I quit ZoneAlarm a long
time ago.  Used AVG not quit them and Lavashoft's Ad-Aware as they use
too many resources.  I only use Prevx2 now and it is headed in the
same direction.  They get so the want to check everything all the
time.  If you only use a computer for Tradestation you don't need all
that protection.  I mostly depend on the firewall in my DSL modem.
AT&T now but was SBC.  With a switch this side of the modem you wind
up with two IP addresses.  One on the internet using the DSL modem
then one on this side of the modem.  That helps a lot.  Plus no ports
open.

Woops - I think I responded to the wrong subject.  I actually intended to
respond to the extreme slowdown of various apps and TradeStation operations
such as switching workspaces .
