I recall reading about a Win2k update that dealt specifically with the issue
of a problem rebooting.
I would go to the WIN2k update site and see if you can find it.

Win 2000 has been giving me problems rebooting.  It doesn't happen all the
time but when she won't boot normally I have to resort to booting in safe
mode.  MS technicians could not find the problem but suggested doing a
stress test.  Can anyone tell me how this is done?

Remembering the heated discussions on the merits of different
processors, I thought I'd point you guys to tomshardware.com where
they are running live stress-testing (100% load) of both brands. So
far, after 5 days, things look good. Intel system has been rebooted 2
times, AMD 0 times, but otherwise both have been functioning well with
