Unfortunately,  not  all  laptops can do this. It depends on
the  graphics  card that comes with the laptop. You're doing
the  all  the right things but with the wrong computer. As I
write  this message on my Dell Inspiron 1100, I can tell you
I went through the same process.

the                        video                       card:

I haven't tried replacing mine, but that's probably the best
possibility.

If  you  go this route, I'd really like to hear how it turns
