outputting indicator data to excel

Is there a way to output indicator readings,as say 1's and 0's to an excel 
file.  For instance, if you have a permission indicator which lets a system 
go long only or short only, is there a way you can output 1 when the 
indicator reads permission long and 0 when it reads permission short and on 
what days, historically, to an excel file?
