Re: Interactive Broker's TWS with eSignal

Hi,

Maybe this difference of performance can be attributed to the fact that
eSignal has many servers (190+ according to the posts) and some have
less load / better performance than others. Mark Brown wrote he has
delays. I've also often read about delays in esignal group at
YahooGroups...

Btw, the PC I'm monitoring performance on is a P4/512MB RAM/NT4 machine
(dedicated inet line) which runs nothing but 1) esignal sw 2) TS2K 3)
TWS and 4) InternetExplorer. When I notice the delay I run some TCP/IP
performance stats to see if it's a network congestion issue and most of
the time it isn't imho. It has not been a big problem for me because I
don't do short-term trading, so I haven't fully researched the issue.

Btw I rarely use data-on-demand service w/ esignal sw, but I've also
noticed that on many occassions during US market hours, if I try to
chart some symbol in esignal sw, it'll try to fetch the data from the
server and it often ends with empty chart & "No data". Now, if I persist
trying again several times, it'll fetch and chart the data. Outside US
market hours the on-demand-data works always (except some period in the
early morning EST times I think).

How was your esignal performance during fast markets (Greenspan, Saddam
days etc) or busy moments (reports) ? How fast are your quotes the first
few minutes after the open?

Regards, Michael
