Robin,

I agree with you that UA has some nice features to make continuous
contracts. And BTW I was already a customer of them in the QuickTrieve
days (1993).

But all the features are useless if they are implemented buggy as is the
case with the rollover algorithm based on volume/OI or both.

And I don't talk about these bugs in open forums (like this) before I
communicated them multiple times (as in that case) to their customer
support. But maybe the public posting helps them to wake up and take it
more seriously (I know that they are monitoring this forum actively ;)

I liked CSI because of their broad coverage of world futures markets but
with their new pricing policy which will cost me 10 (ten) times the
current price I am seriously considering an alternative. BTW one may be
CRB-Final Markets
(http://www.crbtrader.com/datacenter.asp) which also have a good world
coverage of futures markets with reasonable pricing.

Cheers,
Christian

PS: Please reply also to my private address as I subscribed to the
digest which arrives with some lag.

Actually CSI does a great job of providing accurate commodity data. I
have used them forever. Every now and then an exchange will report bad
data. When this happens it might take a few days for everyone to find
and correct the error. But IMO you can count on their database being
very clean and dependable.

Since "rolling on open interest" was mentioned, this might surprise many
people. CSI came up with the idea of rolling on OI. Unfair Advantage
(ver 1.0) was their 1st windows package. I was heavily involved in that
beta test and just before its release this idea was inserted into the
software.
