Here's the experience I had: Qwest would not provide DSL for my home. They
said my line did not qualify. Then I called Earthlink and they said my line
was within distance parameters so they sent someone to Qwest's own CO and
qualified my line. I do not understand why a third party ISP was able to set
my line up for DSL when the company that owns the line said it could not be
done. FYI, I have had it for a month now and it works fine. Consistant 1Mbs
downloads.

The moral of the story is that Colin's idea sounds good to me, but maybe the
RBOC (I presume this is Qwest in my case) won't set your line up even though
you can get DSL service from the ISP directly.
