TS4 Power Editor Question - Not Enough Memory

I need to add some variables to my code and I have been getting the above
message when I try to verify (this is different from the 64K exe limit).

I tried eliminating any other variables I could, even replaced some
variables with an array hoping that would work, but I am having no luck.
There is no obviously inefficient code.

Can you suggest any steps that I should take, short of giving up or using
DLLs?
I would rather keep this in TS4.
