Actually, it was more impressive than that, according to Jack Schwager.
In the intro to his interview with Dennis in "Market Wizards," he reports
that Dennis started with $1600 (borrowed from his family) in 1970.  He
used most of it to buy a seat on the MidAm and started trading with the
magnificent sum of $400.  He ran that up into an estimated $200 million.

I'd be satisfied to do half as well.  More than satisfied, in fact.
