I keep getting private emails like the one below in response to my posting 
on computer security, reproduced below it.  I must have somehow given the 
wrong impression.  I don't have any "hacker friends".  I just know of a few 
out there; and I'm sure there are millions of others.  They are formidable 
and in some cases very nasty and I would not underestimate their abilities 
or their intentions or their dedication in any way.  You don't have to know 
them to realize this -- just read the newspapers.
