     Its been awhile since I've used Ascii data but I used to save 
     everything as a PRN ( Space delimited not comma delimited ) file as 
     attached.I have always used YYMMDD format as given in your first 
     example.Trust the file attached is of some use - I imported this ok.

im trying to post into trade station an ascii file in the following format:
     
"date","close"
980803,2001
980804,2435
980805,2312
     
i get an error message, bad date.  the dates are good.  
     
i also tried this format
     
08/03/98,2001
     
didnt work either
