On Tue, 16 Dec, Mike Gossland wrote about the difference between the
Signal symbols, $INDU and $DJ.  He said that $DJ is the "theoretical"
value.

Mike, you have it just backward - $INDU is the "theoretical" value and
$DJ the actual.  The range of the theoretical value will always be
greater than the range of the actual.

Unfortunately, the theoretical value is the one most often given in the
news media.  I suppose the rationale is that the theoretical high & low
are more representative of the behavior of the individual stocks which
constitute the index.
