I have Win XP Pro SP1/MS Pro 8.01. I have the same problem with one of my
templates which has tens of custom indicators (some of which use quite
complex calculations). However, the problem is sporadic and not even
consistent with the same symbols i.e. MS may crash when I open a symbol
using that template one time, but not another time. Also, the problem
usually occurs when I open a number of charts in quick succession rather
than when opening just one or two. Go figure!

Here's a workaround: When opening multiple charts (e.g. after running MS
Explorer), I use another template which I set as the default (it has only a
limited number of custom indicators and virtually never crashes and gives me
all the info I need for a quick review). After I have finished my quick
reviews, I just open a chart with my other template (the one with a
"million" custom indicators), set it to default template, close all open
charts & delete the MSSmart folder(s) (where MS keeps copies of all charts
that were opened). The next time I open a chart, it opens with my custom
template.
