[Metastockusers] Re: ICE

I use ICE regularly. I'm going to do some testing with it this
afternoon. It depends on what you expect to get out of it.

For me ICE is a fast way to test various indicators across different
time frames. I often trade the same security in multiple time frames
and some things work great EOD but fail on 20 min screens. I like to
know what's reliable and what's not. I've also found that certain
indicators work much better than I thought and so I've taken a much
closer look at them than I would have before.

ICE also classifies indicators in regard to colinearity issues.
That's been a big help also. I used a different technique to avoid
colinearity but that technique did not work with everything I was
doing.

There's no quesiton experience helps when using ICE. The manual is
better now than it used to be. The tables make a big difference in
understanding how to use the equations for incorporation into
systems. I use The Encyclopedia of Technical Market Indicators also,
and so I sometimes rewrite the ICE equations and re-test them based
on both ICE and the book. That gets a little complex but I've learned
a lot. ICE has and The Encyclopedia has changed my mind about some
indicators for sure along with increasing my understanding of what
backtesting tells you and what it doesn't.

So far I can't say that my basic trading has improved because of what
I've learned, but I feel like I'm close to improving my systems. It
just a whole lot of work, that's for sure. I already have really,
really good trading systems so it's like trying to take two shots off
your golf game when you are a scratch golfer.

ICE has a money back guarantee. If you get it and can't figure out
how to make use of it, just send it back. It's no big deal. I return
about half the products I buy because they don't work for me. Other
people love them, but I can't find a way to use them. It's just the
nature of plug-ins.

On the other site, there has been some constant carping by a couple
of people. You can read their posts if you're inclined to hear loud
complaining. In fact, I'm sure they'll post here to make sure that
whatever I have said is balanced by their negative view.

No problem Yelling is not prohibited by law--only by good taste.

If you have specific questions you can email me. I'll try to answer
them.
