This is not a must. Both Flexsoft TAS and Omega TradeStation do offer a
Pascal-look trader dedicated language extendable by "standard" Pascal.

Metastock cannot be extended by Visual Basic code : an interesting paradox,
since VB(A) is supposed to be the Microsoft recommanded SOHO programming
language, and Metastock is showing the Office sticker.
Part of the rationale is that such applications (TA softwares) just cannot
get rid of good old DLLs. They are top notch performance vs the newest
technologies VB is proposing. 

Anyway, I do certainly prefer the Pascal-look extended by Pascal than the
"limited language" gap to C DLL's. This is way too dichotomic :(.
